High Winds & Flooded Roads
Просмотров 5828 дней назад
Winds were too high for kayak fishing so fished from the road and it got flooded!
Flooded Roads
Просмотров 73Месяц назад
We had no idea the road was being flooded as we were fishing. High winds magnified the amount of water coming in at high tide.

Buckling down for hurricane Beryl. Had no idea these covers existed.
@@narcissistectomy5134 oh man. Good luck. I hope it’s not bad for you.
When running it do you have to flip up the exhaust flap or can you just leave it loose?
@@wr1039 I would flip it up. Haven’t run it yet with the cover on but probably should flip the flap up.
@@wr1039 If you run it with the flap down, the generator’s carbon monoxide sensor will shut it down really quick. For anyone in the future trying to improvise a fast DIY rain solution, Im going through hurricane Beryl LITERALLY right now. For reference, Im using a Firman dual-fuel generator, 8500W gasoline, 7500W propane…. I made a makeshift rain tent for it with a large tarp and huge tent stakes, pup-tent style. I got a couple of small pieces of plywood and put on top of the generator to prevent water from pooling on the gas tank. The tarp mostly covers the outlet side, but not completely because I need to get my hands up in there. The intake-side is covered, as well as the backside (opposite the outlets). Initially I had the exhaust side partially closed to try and help shield the electronics, but the carbon monoxide sensor shut it down. I had to reconfigure it so the exhaust side is mostly open, and staked the tarp down as close as possible to the electronic side.
How’s it going? Is it bad? Lots of rain?
Man I sure appreciate your videos. I’m in the market for a used Explore and your reviews have solidified my decision. Do the hubs have the Dexter Ez lube system or do you have to take the wheels off to repack the bearings? How’s towing without an anti sway hitch on the interstate at higher speeds?
@@LandonParrish-u9b no need for an anti sway bar. With my truck it tows like there is nothing back there. I go 75-80 on the highway. I had a guy look at my bearings. No need to repack and he said it was good and that was in year 6 of ownership. I don’t even have a brake controller. Don’t use the camper brakes. Maybe if I lived in the mountains i’d get a brake controller
@@happy_hartshornes right on. Appreciate it!
Yum!!😮
You just can't fix stupid!
Nice trip! We're looking at getting an inflatable kayak soon, to do these smaller places.
@@rventures1021 thanks! I have the Sea Eagle Explorer 420x inflatable kayak. I love it. Definitely check out Sea Eagle for quality inflatable kayaks. I subscribed to your page!
Thank you! An actual “review” and not an AI-generated waste of time. Again, thank you!
@@tomnorman457 you’re welcome. I really like it and I probably have a good chance of using it this year. Hurricanes headed to the Gulf of Mexico already!
That’s crazy!
Great review
There should be warning signs on that road!
Get a motor. Rough waters!
👍👍👍👍
Great review!
Omg! I’m watching on my tv yelling, Don’t get out of the boat!
Hahaha
This looks like a lot of fun with appropriate amount of beer
Second, suck it!😂
Goose pasture put in?
Yes
I don’t know how you got your kayak through that
@@happy_hartshornes There were some magic words.
First!
Keep in mind. There’s never a free lunch.

Great video man! Looks like fun! I’ve been wanting to make a kayak video for my channel!! Love watching your videos man!! Awesome job, keep it going!! 💪🤝
Thank you!
I was exposed to this in Italy, be careful, especially tourists and foreigners
That’s a good looking G3 boat that came by ya 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Did you have any luck? All I got was an undersized flounder.
we caught one keeper red around the oysters. Headed back out to the flats and caught a bunch of trout @@happy_hartshornes
@@warrgriLet the creekmaster handle the reds up the creeks........
And who the hell is that other guy?. For.some.reason, I think I've fished with him at least a dozen times but who the hell is he???
Who the hell is this "creek master" guy?. He's been in three of your videos!
LOL
Tell that idiot to stop screaming "red, red"
Ol' Skipper Bay
Gotta go again soon! Sick footage back in the creek! Summer bite is tough!!!
Working your way back to a boat ??? Now you have to carry gas and load it unload heavy ass motor so just pull your boat to the lake ?? Lol
Not interested in a boat. Going to stick with my kayak but I may add an electric motor.
The Roadhammer ( I think you've called your truck that) saves the day!
Yep! That’s the RoadHammer! LOL
🎉
The definition of a flood tide!! Lol!!
Dude it’s perfect music for the heat we are having here on the gulf coast 😊
The music? LOL
Haha!
"you couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitro-glycerin plant"
Hahahaha
Can you show us how you manage tocarry 20 hp outboard
ruclips.net/video/h4NuC2V3ovc/видео.htmlsi=cYB12iVOFn2yTWe0
Link I posted shows how I load the motor in the beginning of the video.
Wow that was wild!!!
An adventure for sure! You need an airboat my friend!
Haha! I couldn’t believe it was all flooded. We left as the tide was going down too. It must have been even deeper an hour before we left.
@@happy_hartshornes Looked like the Silverado handled it just fine!
@@MilesDissinger yeah it was no problem. When I got home I ran a sprinkler under my truck for about an hour. Changed it to different positions to make sure I got any salt water off.
Is that skipper rd? Have been planning to go. Should we not? I put in there last year - a little wet toward the end, though nothing like this.
@@ldavidson02 yep! This was my first time trying to launch here. I think it was just the crazy wind we had on Saturday pushing the water in at high tide.
Trusty partners are always a good helping hand. Looks good, great job. I'll be doing the same.
That looks like a super cool spot Don! And the ice cream boat...what a great idea!
Omg
what's max speed on this 20 hp ?
I got up to 19mph at 75% throttle. I felt like I was on the edge of losing control.
I really like your setup! Very cool 😎
Do you still have the Saturn inflatable. If so do you like and or still use it?
Yes I still have it. I love it but I haven’t used it lately. I may use it this weekend. I got a fishing kayak and I use that mostly. I love the Saturn boat but if I want to go fishing for the day a kayak is so much easier.
Wow on the grouper!!! How far did you have to walk down the bridge??
Not far at all. Maybe 1/3 the way down. That water is almost the same exact depth the entire span of the bridge so I’m not sure if it matters where you go.
That thing is pretty sick!!! Nice review.. we need to get on the kayaks soon!!
Thanks! I’m ready. Camping is done for a while. I’m planning on going out on the kayak Saturday or Sunday. Pool party Monday. I sent you an invite on Facebook.
You guys walked through the canyon while it was raining was a horrible idea. Thank God you weren't caught up in a flash flood.
It’s 11 miles. It wasn’t raining all day. A thunderstorm popped up in the afternoon.
@@happy_hartshornes I'm so glad you made it out. Thank you for sharing to help others who may hike the canyon.
Epic moves to end the video Don!!
Haha!!!!
Jessica is killin it…grabbing that shark like it’s a little lake trout!
No kidding. I don’t grab them like that. No way! lol!
Love it don!!!!! Always a pleasure fishing with you friend
